Wicked Fever

Wicked Fever is spreading both on-shore and off-shore.  Salmon season is upon us, and anglers need to consider another option in there tackle box for targeting chinook & coho salmon.  Wicked Lures are exactly what every angler should have with them whether off-shore, on the river, or on a lake.  Wicked is based out of Port Angeles, Washington and they have developed an emerging line of custom-made fishing lures which are currently being distributed nationally.

Wicked Lures/Spinners are designed for casting, float fishing, and trolling.  Unlike any other fishing lure on the market today, the action and presentation of Wicked Lures makes each lure unique and deadly to a wide variety of game fish.  These 100% custom-made monofilament lures are designed to target, Salmon, Steelhead, Trout, Bass, Walleye, Lake Trout, and Pike.  This big coho in the photo below absolutely crushed my Wicked Spinner on an epic fall day in a SW Washington tributary.  This fish followed my wicked spinner all the way to the boat, and then crushed it with an impressive aggressive intent!Wicked Coho

Traditional fishing spinner products are build on a wire base and utilize a weighted body.  However, wicked spinners are constructed on monofilament line and the weight is utilized on a snap swivel approximately three feet above the wicked hoochie spinner.  Thus, the wicked without any weight in the spinner body dangles freely amongst current and presents a much more natural presentation in it’s environment.  This action is uniquely similar to a wounded bait fish which attracts the attention of predator game fish.

We filmed this using a Contour camera with Wicked Lures owner James Beasley and OuterEscape endorsed guide, Captain Bret Ferris of Ferris NW Guide Service.  It was non-stop action off the Washington Coast catching large robust coho salmon on wickeds.  These fish were attacking the wicked spinners with angry intent and velocity.  We fished several techniques utilizing wicked spinners to cover a variety of depths including downriggers and also divers with 1-oz cannon ball weights. Our preferred set up also included Okuma Magda Pro Line Counter Reels and Lamiglas Graphite Saltwater Rods. Check out Wicked Lures and be sure to add them to your arsenal of saltwater and freshwater gear.  Tight lines!
